Elected as the NDP Member of Parliament for the Saint-Lambert riding on May 2, 2011, Sadia Groguhé is the Deputy House of Commons Leader of the Official Opposition and the Deputy Critic for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
Mrs. Groguhé—who holds a master’s degree in psychology—worked as a guidance counsellor at the Montreal community organization Objectif Emploi, which provides adults with job search and career transition services. She worked in France in the area of social and professional integration for young people and adults in difficulty. She learned to use transactional analysis as a therapeutic tool and provided guidance in individual and group training sessions.
The Member of Parliament for Saint-Lambert—who was president of the Association Istres Egalité and a candidate in the French cantonal elections—also worked as a city councillor responsible for integration in a commune in southern France from 1995 to 2000. She has been living in Quebec with her spouse and four children since 2005.
